Hubert Davis quote on Caleb Wilson will have UNC fans ready for the season to arrive
Everyone in Tar Heel nation is patiently awaiting Caleb Wilson's debut at the Dean Dome. We've heard many things about the 6-foot-10, five-star prospect from Georgia and clips from his summer workouts are leaking on a daily basis.
Wilson, the highest-rated prospect to come to North Carolina under Hubert Davis, seems to understand the expectations and the early returns are that he's working hard and ready to make an immediate impact. And that's good news for Davis.

Anytime an elite big man comes into a college program, it is a reason for anticipation. But in Wilson's case, it's an opportunity for Davis to show that UNC can still be the breeding ground for top-end talent.
With the 2025 NBA Draft in the rearview mirror, it didn't take ESPN.com long to put up their first 2026 mock and in it they have Wilson being selected by the Atlanta Hawks at No. 8. When describing Wilson, ESPN college basketball writer Jonathan Givony said:
"At 6-9, Wilson looks the part with an outstanding frame, length and developing two-way versatility that could be harnessed into a very intriguing package long term. He can push off the defensive glass and pass on the move. Wilson's intensity level and outside shooting need work, but he has attributes you can't teach and is loaded with long-term upside."
A few spots ahead of him is incoming Duke freshman Cam Boozer, who is projected to be the third overall selection by the Brooklyn Nets.
One of the big storylines in the ACC this upcoming season will be the matchups between Wilson and Boozer. We've seen them on the same court together as teammates, but now they will be matched up against each other for the first time in what we hope will be a long series of battles over the next few years.
