Folks will always know Reba McEntire for her decorated country music career. Though that is not the only medium of show business she has toiled in. In addition to being one of Nashville’s biggest stars, Reba has also graced the screen of several films and television projects, Specifically, Reba has starred in scripted television shows, Reba, Young Sheldon, and Happy’s Place. Regarding her filmography, Reba has been in Tremors, Little Rascals, Charlotte’s Web, and several other major motion pictures.

McEntire’s film and television career became notable thanks to the sitcom, Reba, which ran from 2001 to 2007 and had six seasons. Before the airing of Reba, the country music star had dominated the 80s and 90s with songs such as “Fancy”, “The Last One To Know”, and “Is There Life Out There”. Amidst her country music commercial success, McEntire discovered that she wanted to pursue acting, and that is after she created the video for her 1986 single, “Whoever’s In New England”.

According to the Country Music Hall of Fame, the music video for “Whoever’s In New England” piqued McEntire’s interest in acting and filmmaking, as it allowed her to “utilize powerful storylines.” After McEntire finished the music video for “Whoever’s In New England”, she went on to create another cinematically compelling music video for her single, “Is There Life Out There”, which led to the 1994 TV movie of the same title.

Concerning her affinity for acting, Reba McEntire once stated, “I love to watch television. I love movies, so acting is something that entertains me,” per WKML 95.7. Reba McEntire’s entry into the world of film and television came in her role as Heather Gummer in the 1990 film, Tremors. Subsequently, the film work came pretty steadily, as McEntire starred in The Luck Of The Draw: The Gambler Returns, The Man From Left Field, and North all by 1994.

Since being inspired to pursue a career in acting, Reba McEntire has won a People’s Choice Award, a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and scored a Golden Globe Nomination for her hit sitcom, Reba. While Reba’s main objective as an entertainer is to provide the world with country music, she seemingly also felt the need to explore a different part of her artistic self after that 1986 music video. Needless to say, she did, and she is one of the most successful country musicians to transition over to the world of film and television.
