station. The victim was threatened with a hatchet and then run over by a car. To make things worse, the suspect drove off, leaving the victim with a broken leg.

51-year-old Peter Sampson lost control of his anger during an argument at a Bradenton gas station. Police officers shared that an argument occurred at the Marathon gas station on 2009 14th Street around 7:30 pm.

Two drivers arrived at the gas station in separate cars and began fighting inside the store. Things escalated in the parking lot.

This is when Sampson allegedly pulled a hatchet out of his car and started threatening the other man. According to Bradenton, Sampson then got in his car and ran the victim over before speeding away.

The victim was left bleeding on the ground with a broken leg and other injuries. He was taken to a local hospital but his current condition is unknown.

Multiple witnesses watched the fight unfold. They were able to provide a description of the suspect and his car. The Bradenton Police Department Crime Reduction Team identified the driver as Sampson.

Police officers tracked Sampson down the next morning with the help of the Manatee County Violent Crimes Task Force.

He was arrested on charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury.

The name of the victim hasn’t been released as the investigation into the incident is still ongoing. It’s unclear what the men were fighting about, but it doesn’t take much for things to escalate.
