Hampton woman charged with DWI after wrong-way crash

A Hampton woman is facing several charges after a wrong-way crash on Route 101 in Bedford Thursday night.

Alyssa Jones, 23, was charged with felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, driving while intoxicated and conduct after an accident, State Police said in a Friday news release.

State Police said several callers reported a car with deflated tires and no lights that struck several guardrails on the F.E. Everett Turnpike near Exit 13.

Soon after, another caller reported a wrong-way driver on Route 101 near the Interstate 293 split. Troopers found Jones's 2008 Honda Accord on top of a guardrail facing in the wrong direction.

Troopers determined that Jones had exited the turnpike onto I-293 south, veered off the road and across the grass median, striking the guardrail and traveling another 50 feet on top of the guardrail before coming to rest. Troopers also said Jones had earlier struck another car near Exit 11 in Merrimack.

Jones suffered minor injuries and was released on cash bail, pending arraignment in Merrimack District Court in April.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact Trooper Curran Huff at [email protected].
