Bedford Man Disposes of Knife After Fatal Stabbing

Tyreese Kamau, 25, of Rutland Road, Bedford, has been convicted of manslaughter after fatally stabbing Patrice Che, 26, at a property near Bedford town center last year. Emergency services responded to a call at Brereton Road around 3am on Tuesday, November 5th, following reports of a man with serious stab wounds. Patrice Che was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but died the following day.

The trial at Luton Crown Court revealed that an argument between Kamau and Che escalated, leading Kamau to stab Che with a kitchen knife. CCTV footage showed Kamau fleeing the scene and disposing of an orange carrier bag down a rubbish chute at a friend's apartment. Police recovered the bag from the building's bins, finding the knife used in the stabbing inside.

After a two-week trial at Luton Crown Court, Kamau was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter. His sentencing is scheduled for June 27th. Detective Inspector Adam Bridges, who led the investigation, emphasized the devastating consequences of violence, especially when knives are involved. He extended his sympathies to Patrice Che’s family and friends, highlighting the irreversible outcomes that can result from carrying or using a knife. He affirmed the commitment to holding those who engage in such violence accountable.
