Governor Bii accuses Mandago of interfering with Ghost Projects

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii addressed the ghost projects that were flagged by the Senate Public Accounts Committee last weekend, stating that these projects were initiated by his predecessor, Senator Jackson Mandago, near the end of his term. Bii clarified that he should not be held responsible for these projects, as the onus of completing them now falls on his administration.

Speaking in Kesses on Wednesday, Bii emphasized that Mandago initiated projects worth millions of shillings as he was exiting his gubernatorial role, and his current administration now faces the challenge of completing them. Bii firmly stated that he would not be drawn into political blame and urged Senator Mandago to cease interfering with his leadership. He also mentioned that some individuals have threatened that he will not be re-elected in the next election due to these incomplete projects.

Furthermore, Bii commented on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s statements regarding the 2027 elections. The governor described these utterances as dangerous to the coexistence and peace-building efforts in the country. He highlighted that Uasin Gishu county suffered significantly during the 2007 post-election violence, making Gachagua’s mention of it reckless, as the memories are still vivid for many residents.

Bii underscored that various communities are currently living peacefully within the county, and such remarks could potentially disrupt the harmony among them. He called for responsible dialogue to maintain the existing peace and cohesion in Uasin Gishu.
