Google generated an estimated Dh21.8 billion in economic value for the UAE in 2024, driven by widespread use of its platforms and services across daily life and business. According to the company’s newly released Economic Impact Report, the Android and Google Play app ecosystem alone supported the creation of 30,000 jobs, marking a significant workforce impact in the country’s fast-evolving digital economy.
The report, conducted by research agency Public First in March 2025, highlights how Google’s products, including Search, Ads, Play, Maps, YouTube, and AI tools, are not only widely used but also key enablers of productivity, entrepreneurship, and job creation. Of the total impact, Google Search and Ads contributed Dh20.2 billion, supporting businesses and helping users acquire new digital skills.
The Android app economy also generated Dh455 million in revenue for UAE-based developers in 2024. Google’s digital skilling initiative, Maharat Min Google, has trained over 430,000 individuals in the UAE in digital and AI skills since 2018, enhancing employability and workforce readiness.
The findings also show that 7.6 million adults used Google Search to learn new skills, and 90% of respondents found mobile payment tools like GPay essential for convenience. AI-powered tools are projected to increase workforce productivity by 15%, equivalent to 310 hours per worker annually, and contribute up to Dh300 billion in economic growth, according to Public First.
