CM Directs Edu Dept To Stop Beach Picnics For Students

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that college students will be provided training in banking and financial services in the state so that they can understand stock market trading and become financial advisors. Sawant, who also holds the education portfolio, directed the education department to issue a circular to schools not to organise picnics for students at beaches.
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE India) and Goa govt signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to launch the ‘Student Skilling Programme,’ aimed at equipping Goa’s youth with industry-relevant skills in the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector.
The CM said that there are hardly 2,000 financial advisors in the state, and the MoU will help students become financial advisors and even get into stock market trading. “After completing the training, students can earn while studying by becoming insurance agents or financial advisors,” he said.

Sawant told the education department to issue a circular to take picnics to solid waste management plants, NIO, Ayush hospitals and other institutions involved in research so that students are encouraged to study in those fields.
The CM said that one of the scientists for Chandrayaan-4 should be from Goa, and it would be a proud moment for the state.
He said that attended the National Science Day programme at the Govt College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, where scientist Sharad Kale delivered a talk on ‘Science in Everyday Life’.
Sawant said that this year’s National Science Day theme — ‘Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat’ — is a clarion call for our future leaders in science. India has long been a hub of scientific innovation and continues to make remarkable strides in space exploration, nuclear technology and artificial intelligence.
The CM said that Goa govt remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening STEM education through CARES, innovation & startup hubs, and the integration of science with sustainable development. He urged everyone to embrace a scientific temper, guided by the vision of Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi, to pave the way for a Viksit Goa, Viksit Bharat.
Sawant said that students should look at everything in a scientific manner so that they get job opportunities. He said all students should understand space exploration, artificial intelligence and biotechnology which are being discussed among the science students. Sawant told students to watch PM’s Mann Ki Baat for information to become leaders.
“You see unwanted reels on social media. I urge you to visit MYBharat portal, which will provide information about the opportunities available in the state,” the CM said.
