'GMA' Marks End of an Era With Emotional Goodbye After 26 Years
Good Morning America marked the end of an era as its co-hosts bid their emotional goodbyes to its iconic Times Square Studios.
On Friday, June 13, GMA broadcast its final weekday episode from the longtime location.
The ABC morning show will move to a new space in Hudson Square in downtown New York City after 26 years of calling Times Square Studios its home
During the show, anchors acknowledged and celebrated the final chapter.
"It's a big morning for us here at GMA as we say goodbye to our Times Square Studio," , 64, declared to kick off the 8 a.m. show. " is going to help us do that. She has been such a great friend through the years."
Elsewhere in the June 13 episode, GMA teased that its new neighbors were rolling out the welcome mat for the show's big move.
Ahead of the last day at its Times Square Studios, GMA co-hosts reflected on their first days at Times Square Studios during the June 9 episode.
"It was so long ago that I can't even imagine what it must have been," co-anchor , 64, said of joining in 2009.
Roberts, who joined GMA as co-anchor in 2005, shared, "I remember thinking, "I'm a little girl from Mississippi, and I'm working at Times Square. It's just so majestic."
, 53, also shared his first impressions of GMA's Times Square Studios as a substitute co-anchor in 2013 before joining full-time in 2016.
"The bright lights, the personality, the energy, how intimidated I was when I walked through the door," he detailed. "A lot of thoughts were going through my mind."
Finally, Chief Meteorologist , 44—who joined GMA Weekend in 2011 before transitioning to the weekday show in 2023—revealed, "My first time in Times Square, coming to this studio, was magical. I mean, truly. I pulled up at the stoplight on 44th, I just remember looking up and thinking, 'This cannot be my life.'"
