Sunyani, (Bono), June 25, GNA – Mr Charles Yao Mawusi, a presidential candidate contesting the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) national election has pledged inclusive administration to build on the prospects of the Association.
He said an all-inclusive administration would greatly foster unity, saying “it’s time we all come together as journalists to rebrand ourselves and the Association and to build on standards we all aspired to”.
Mr Mawusi gave the pledge when he interacted with the members of the Association in Sunyani ahead of the GJA national and regional elections slated to take place on Monday June 30, 2025, and highlighted the importance of a collective action in “rebuilding the image of the association”.
He said his leadership would decentralize the operations of the GJA, ensuring that every region had fully functional offices, saying that enhancing the general welfare of journalists in the country also remained a key priority.
Mr Mawusi said a comprehensive welfare policy would be initiated for members, including retirees, adding that he would also lead the association to establish savings and loan schemes for the members.
He said he was already aware that the GJA had been unionized and reaffirmed his commitment to secure a bargaining certificate for the association too. “Journalists deserve better and securing the right to bargain for fair salaries and condition of service of members is a step we must take”, Mr Mawusi stated.
