Steve Burton has found his forever love.

The General Hospital star married chef and content creator Michelle Lundstrom in an intimate ceremony in Laguna Beach, Calif., on Saturday. The pair gushed to PEOPLE about the nuptials.

"This day isn't just about a ceremony. It's the beginning of forever with the love of my life," Burton said.

Lundstrom added, "To have the most incredible man I've ever known by my side forever brings me so much peace and happiness. He is the love of my life, and I feel so blessed to call him mine."

Held at an Orthodox church, the ceremony was attended by several of Burton's current and former costars, including married couple Jonathan Jackson and Lisa Vultaggio.

Burton and Lundstrom were engaged in January, after confirming their romance only eight months prior. In 2022, Burton separated from his longtime wife Sheree, announcing on social media that she was "expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine." Burton vowed, however, that the couple would continue to co-parent their three children, Makena, Brooklyn, and Jack.

The past few years have also marked a period of professional turbulence for Burton, who left General Hospital in 2021, explaining that "let me go because of the vaccine mandate." He then returned to Days of Our Lives, which he starred in back in 1988, before going back to General Hospital in 2024.

Burton has played the mob boss Jason Morgan on the soap opera on and off since 1991, but briefly appeared as Drew Cain, Jason's identical twin, in photos and flashbacks from 2017-2019. Lundstrom, meanwhile, is a self-described "recipe creator" who appeared on Netflix's Barbecue Showdown 2 in 2022.

Beyond the presence of Burton's GH costars, the ceremony was truly a family affair, with the series' hair and makeup artists, Anzhela and Luiza Adzhiyan, providing their services to Lundstrom for the big day.

"I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend, growing together each day in faith and love," Burton told PEOPLE.

Lundstrom, who noted that marriage "means everything" to the happy couple, added that Burton has "proven that fairy tale love truly exists. He's like pure sunshine — always uplifting, endlessly caring. His love makes me a better person every single day."
