The quartet of Nathaniel Samson, Gafari Badmus, Tohibat Jimoh, and Tosin Adeleye won the event after storming the finish line in 3:24.36 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta on Friday.

Team Edo clinched the silver medal with a 3:23.41 finish, while Lagos, with Benjamin Mogaji, Jane Onyeneho, Eniola Shiro and Uwem Donald, picked the bronze after dipping at 3:24.36.

Michael Aiyegbeni of Team Lagos won the gold medal in the men’s hammer throw, while Ewumwen Gladys also won the gold medal for the state in the women’s javelin.

The table tennis and para-table tennis events are scheduled to commence on Saturday.

Foreign-based stars like Olajide Omotayo, Taiwo Matti and Azeez Solanke will represent Team Bayelsa.

The 14-year-old Matthew Kuti, the national champion, will represent Team Lagos alongside Muiz Adegoke.

Delta state sits above the medal table with 34 gold, 12 silver, and 28 bronze medals, followed by Bayelsa with 61 medals.

Rivers is third with 15 gold medals, 12 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals, above Ogun and Oyo, who are third and fourth, respectively.

The Gateway Games began on May 16 and will run till May 30.
