This year, Awin’s global ThinkTank event celebrated not only 25 years of the platform, but also 25 years of affiliate marketing.
As an industry, affiliate marketing was born somewhere around 1998 - 2000 – a time when the first camera phones were entering the market, Furbies were all the rage, and around 2-7% of the world’s population used the internet (nowadays, it’s roughly 68.5%).
Rosalyn Berrisford entered the industry in 2006. She studied marketing at university, but had not heard of affiliate marketing before. Taking a leap of faith, Berrisford embarked on a path that has led to her current position as Managing Director of the UK & BNL regions at Awin.
We caught up at ThinkTank this week to learn more about how she got into affiliate marketing, what surprised her about this industry, things she’s glad to see change, things she misses, and trends across Europe right now.
