In a Channel One TV Face to Face interview monitored by mynewsgh.com, Antwi clarified his position was not personal but rooted in NPP electoral ambitions: “I want him to fail… because I want my party to win 2028.”

The ex-lawmaker, who served as deputy minister under former President Nana Akufo-Addo, expressed skepticism about the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s capacity. He referenced internal governance challenges, stating: “As President, your appointees will make sure you fail.

The same Ghanaians in NDC [government] will transfer these inefficiencies.” Antwi emphasized his lack of faith in the NDC’s economic management despite acknowledging Mahama’s intentions.

Antwi’s remarks highlight deepening opposition strategies ahead of Ghana’s 2028 polls, where the NDC must field a new candidate due to Mahama’s term limits. The NPP has not formally endorsed Antwi’s comments, which risk amplifying political tensions amid the administration’s anti-corruption drive.
