Former NDC Regional Chairman Ade Coker to Be Buried August 1 | News Ghana
The veteran politician died on June 1 at Accra’s Bank Hospital after a brief illness, aged 74.
Ade Coker, who served as regional chairman from 2005–2018, was widely recognized as instrumental in the NDC’s 2024 election victory. Tributes from party leaders highlight his mentorship and unwavering commitment. National Youth Organizer George Opare Addo recalled Coker’s support during internal elections: “Despite losing his own bid, he boldly backed me. He served Ghana well in politics and sports.”
NPA CEO Edudzi Tamakloe, who served as his deputy youth organizer, described Coker as a “father figure” who emphasized resilience: “He taught me you can’t stop people from talking, but you control how you react—and get the work done.”
The funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in coming weeks. Coker’s legacy includes decades of grassroots mobilization and mentorship within the NDC, with contemporaries noting his pivotal role in expanding the party’s Accra stronghold.
