Florida Top Transfer Xavian Lee Excited to Challenge Himself Against Better Competition

The Florida Gators are coming off a national championship win in the NCAA Tournament this spring.

Despite their excellent season, they are still looking to improve. As a result, they added Princeton standout Xavian Lee in the transfer portal. The former Tigers guard excelled last season, averaging 16.9 points per game.

Despite his impressive stat lines, there are many who doubt that Lee can excel against better competition in the SEC. On Tuesday, Lee met with reporters in Florida for the first time and acknowledged those concerns.

"I see a lot of people talking about, 'How's he going to do against better competition?' But for me, I look at it like I am getting to play with a lot more talented, athletic guys," Lee said. "At Princeton, we had a great program. But I am excited to challenge myself here and also to play with a lot of guys who have the same aspirations I do."

Under head coach Todd Golden, Lee will have the toughest test of his basketball career thus far. Although he thrived at Princeton in the Ivy League, stepping into the competition could be challenging for Lee. However, he does not share any of those doubts.

Golden also spoke about Lee and his confidence that he will succeed next season.

"The Ivy League was actually better this past year than it had been, which puts him in a good spot," Golden said. "The good thing is, whether he's scrimmaging against Boogie [Fland] or Zay Brown we have some really good athletes."

Lee is entering his final season of NCAA eligibility.
