Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic is an upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's game and the eleventh mainline installment in the Five Nights at Freddy's series, as well as the fourth game in the franchise to be developed by Steel Wool Studios and published by Scottgames. It was first announced on August 6, 2024, and is set to release for Windows and PlayStation 5 on June 13, 2025. It will prominently feature the Mimic.
Enter the abandoned workshop of Murray’s Costume Manor and unravel the mystery left behind by the reclusive inventor, Edwin Murray. In Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, you’ll step into a world where every dark corner holds a secret and every flicker of light hints at an ever-present threat. The Mimic, a prototype endoskeleton, can adapt to any costume and become any character, including what you fear most. Armed with only your wits, a few gadgets, and a heavily redacted corporate briefing, you’ll attempt to retrieve Fazbear’s prized prototype technology while grappling with cryptic clues and a relentless shadow determined to dispatch all unwanted company.
Prepare for heart-pounding thrills as you explore the labyrinth of the deserted Costume Manor, discovering remnants of Edwin’s unfinished work and eluding the monster he’s created. Even though the State of Play trailer revealed more about the gameplay not much is currently known regarding the gameplay, it is known from the demo that the game will follow a similar gameplay structure to Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, being a first-person horror exploration game. Players will need to explore environments, solve puzzles, and evade various threats, seemingly both in scripted chase sequences and in moment-to-moment gameplay. In the demo, the player is pursued by Jackie throughout scripted chase sequences. As revealed in the gameplay trailer, there will be several animatronics present throughout the game, including the Mimic itself, which is seen hiding in mascot costumes.
According to SteamDB, Secret of the Mimic began development around 2022, with the Steam page being created in November 2022.[2]
On August 6, 2024, the game was announced by Steel Wool, along with a teaser trailer, title, and a release window of 2025.
On August 28, 2024, a PlayStation page was published, revealing the game would be playable in both non-VR and VR modes for the PlayStation VR2.[3]
On August 30, 2024, a short VR demo of Secret of the Mimic was playable at PAX West 2024.
On September 20, 2024, the game was playable during the Day of the Devs Fantastic Games event, which took place during Fantastic Fest 2024. The game was also showcased in a 20 minute presentation accessible only to attendees of the event.[4]
On February 12, 2025, the first trailer was revealed during a PlayStation State of Play, with a release date of June 13, 2025. On the same day, details regarding PSVR2 support were quietly removed from the PlayStation Store page and removed from most other sources.[5] The Steam page for the game also does not currently list VR support as a feature. As of now, it is currently unknown if VR support has been cancelled or if this is a developer oversight.

- Jackie bears a similar appearance to Coils the Birthday Clown from the Fazbear Frights series.
- The game is likely being developed under the working title "Carnival." This is due to a mostly empty cut map within the RUIN DLC, which features a text box stating "Something Cool That Maybe Foreshadows Carnival (Pending JTop's Thoughts)."
- The PlayStation Store URL also says "FNAFCARNIVAL."
- The mix of "My Grandfather's Clock" heard in the teaser was used in the Quest port of Help Wanted 2.
