BRICK, NJ — A two-alarm fire destroyed a Brick Township home on Tuesday, displacing a family of five and killing their pet dog.
The family was not home at the time of the fire at the home on Chelsea Drive, off Sally Ike Road, a family friend told Patch. The family's mixed breed dog, Luna, perished, the friend said.
The fire was reported shortly after 9 a.m. and a second alarm was sounded to bring in more firefighters, said Richard Orlando, assistant chief of the Brick Bureau of Fire Safety.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from the Garden State Parkway.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
