James City County house fire leaves one man hospitalized
JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — One man was transported to a hospital after a house fire in James City County.
James City County Fire Department and James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 4600 block of Cedar Point Lane in reference to a residential structure fire around 12:20 p.m.
Upon arrival at approximately 12:35 p.m., crews found fire showing from the second floor of a two-story garage apartment.
The fire was brought under control around 12:50 p.m. following extensive damage to the second floor of the building and roof structure.

The resident was taken to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for possible smoke inhalation. He was awakened by the fire and exited the home through a second-floor window.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the James City County Fire Marshal’s Office.
