Father kills his two children in cold blood in Bomet

A dark cloud has descended upon Taachasis village in Konoin Sub-county, Bomet County, as a 35-year-old man allegedly murdered his two young daughters in a shocking act of violence. The incident, which occurred late at night, has left the community reeling and searching for answers.
According to Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga, the suspect used a kitchen knife to fatally wound his two children, aged two and seven. The police were alerted to the disturbing incident by the area chief and swiftly responded, apprehending the suspect and taking him into custody at the Konoin police station.
"He took the knife and cut their throats one after the other. We don’t know the motive of the murder, but we shall interrogate him before presenting him to the court," Commander Imbwaga stated, highlighting the ongoing investigation into the gruesome crime.
The murder weapon, a kitchen knife, has been secured as evidence, and the bodies of the two young girls have been transported to the Kapkatet sub-county hospital mortuary for preservation and post-mortem examination. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday, where he will face charges related to the deaths of his children.
The incident has ignited strong emotions within the community, with many locals expressing their outrage and demanding justice for the young victims. This tragic event evokes memories of a similar case in February 2025, where Benard Kipkemoi, a 40-year-old man, was sentenced to 150 years in prison for the murder of his three sons in Lelaitich village, Sigor ward, Chepalungu constituency, Bomet county, back in 2019. Justice Julius Kipkosgei Ng’arngar handed down the sentence, condemning the act as inhuman and shocking, emphasizing the need for harsh punishment to deter others from committing such heinous crimes.
As investigations continue, the community grapples with the horror of this unthinkable act, and the legal process begins to unfold, seeking to bring justice for the lives so tragically lost.
