Fani-Kayode distances self from Kemi Olunloyo's kidnap claim against ex-wife Precious Chikwendu
Former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has denied claims by controversial media personality Kemi Olunloyo that he told her his ex-wife Precious Chikwendu once planned to kidnap her.
A video of Olunloyo went viral in which she alleged she got intelligence from Fani-Kayode that Chikwendu had plotted to kidnap her.
Responding in a statement shared on on Saturday night, Fani-Kayode distanced himself from the allegations, stating that his ex-wife sent him the video and that the claims were false.
“My ex-wife and mother of my four sons Dr. Precious Chikwendu sent me a video of my childhood friend and sister Madame Kemi Olunloyo in which the latter made extensive comments about a matter and a number of individuals that does not in any way involve or concern me and my family and in which we have no interest,” he wrote.
“The only thing she said which is of any interest or relevance to me and mine in the entire broadcast is the baseless allegation that I had told her that Precious had planned to have her kidnapped some years ago.
“This is patently false. I never said anything of the sort and my sister Kemi is in error.”
The former minister said he believes Olunloyo may have made a genuine mistake.
“Given my friendship and close relationship with her over the last 43 years I do not want to believe that she said it out of malice or with evil intent but rather that her memory did not serve her well and that it was a genuine error. That is the light in which I view this matter.”
He also clarified that he maintains a peaceful relationship with his ex-wife.
“Precious and I have had our differences in the past but we put all that behind us long ago. As the mother of my children she remains part of me and my family.
“We enjoy a cordial and close relationship even though we are no longer married and I would appreciate it if you would please leave us both out of your public discourse.”
Precious Chikwendu also slammed Olunloyo in a fiery , responding directly to the kidnapping claims and accusing the journalist of fabricating lies for money.
“Shut up demented fool! I paid you less attention then because you needed to survive based on the pennies you were paid at the time,” she wrote.
“He flew you into Abuja then for the stories you peddled and you got some pennies as well as gate crashed my children’s birthday as the ‘akpiri malt that you are.’
“You were a small irrelevant fry to distract me from fighting for my kids which was the ultimate battle. Why I like this allegation of yours is that you roped @real_ffk as your source and I have tagged him to see for himself because on this one, I will be waiting even if you arrive Nigeria in 20 years.”
She continued, “Madam I was petitioned by Grace with assassination bull crap, how did it end? Your mouth only flows with your rotten saliva and nothing to back it. Where was your petition submitted? Wetin I wan kidnap you for? You were irrelevant then and are still irrelevant now.
“Your podcast lies were revealed after I dragged all the doctors you claimed certified me of schizophrenia and bipolar before the medical and dental council and they all were in tears before my eyes. You are mentally sick and it is evident.”
Chikwendu further accused Olunloyo of damaging reputations with her podcast.
“Those you destroyed with your delusional podcast back then are still seeking my forgiveness and you still have some left over nerves to mention me when I intentionally forgot you out of respect for my mother’s age mate?
“I never had respect for you anyways so get lost and pls find the meaning of ‘Riwa nsi onu’ and apply it!”
Fani-Kayode and Chikwendu were married around 2014 and have four children together, including a set of triplets. Their marriage ended in 2020 amid a controversial divorce that included allegations of domestic violence, emotional abuse and child custody battles.
While Chikwendu accused the former minister of abuse and of denying her access to their children, Fani-Kayode denied the allegations, saying he was protecting the children. The split drew wide media attention with both parties making explosive claims in public.
