In the 90th minute of the game, the Red Devils' captain Bruno Fernandes netted the third goal for the visitors, which saw United climb to the 13th place in the Premier League standings.

Højlund’s goal was special, as it marked the end of his goal drought after having stayed for long without scoring for United.

The Danish striker marked the moment with a new celebration signature which quickly caused a controversy.

The 21-year-old United forward celebrated his first goal in 22 matches by putting his thumbs up towards the United fans in Leicester before turning into a thumbs down.

However, the biggest backlash came when he made a 'cut-throat' gesture, similar to one from the Gladiator films, with some fans accusing it of promoting violence.

According to SportBIBLE, the FA is not worried about the celebration neither is the body planning to ask Hojlund to stop doing it.

After the game, Hojlund disclosed that he had support from some of his teammates including Patrick Dorgu, Christian Eriksen and Danish legend Peter Schmeichel.

He said Schmeichel offers support and advice, adding it’s helpful to speak with someone who understands what it means to play for United as a Dane.

"I wouldn't call him a father figure but he helps a lot because he's been through it before.
"He knows what it means to play for Manchester United as a Dane. It's nice to have someone to spar with on that front,"as per Manchester United website.

According to Premier League stats, the Danish striker who arrived at Old Trafford from Serie A side Atalanta, has made 54 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 13 goals.

earlier reported on how manager Amorim reacted after a dispute broke out on the pitch between the two Red Devil stars.

During the recent clash with Real Sociedad, the Red Devils launched a promising counterattack with Diogo Dalot choosing not to pass the ball to his teammate Hojlund who was in a better position to score.

After the match, manager Amorim criticised Dalot's selfishness saying that it was not the best decision to make promising to have a conversation with the two players.
