Ex-PDP campaign spokesman in Kwara, Ishowo, defects to APC
The former Director of Media and Communications for the 2023 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council in Kwara State, Mr. Abdulateef Ishowo, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a press statement issued on Monday in Ilorin, Ishowo cited alignment with the APC’s political ideology and its focus on youth development as key reasons for his defection.
He described the ruling party’s leadership style as “reformative” and said it reflects the kind of political direction he wishes to support.
“There is time for everything. It is time to move and align with a progressive-minded party which I believe will move Kwara to the next stage. That is the APC. It has robust programs for the youth, especially the ones in Kwara,” he stated.
“I hereby declare my support for the party. I believe good governance shall continue come the year 2027, which is another established general election year.”
Ishowo’s defection comes months after another high-profile PDP figure in the state, former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mallam Bolaji
Abdullahi, left the party for an as-yet-undisclosed political platform. Both politicians hail from Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
