A former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and prevent a potential crisis following the reinstatement of council chairmen by a court ruling.

In a statement on Sunday, Oyintiloye expressed concern that a recent Court of Appeal judgment— which dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s application for the relisting of its suit — is being misinterpreted by the Osun State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as overturning an earlier ruling delivered on February 10, 2025, which reinstated the APC chairmen and councillors.

He warned that the alleged misrepresentation of the judgment could spark unrest across the 30 local government areas of the state if not swiftly addressed before Monday.

The former lawmaker declared that the APC chairmen and councillors, who have since resumed duties at their various council secretariats, would resist any attempt to forcefully remove them.

Oyintiloye urged President Tinubu to order the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the state to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

“We don’t want any bloodshed in the state again and that is why I am calling on President to intervene swiftly to avoid loss of lives. The open declaration by PDP members to invade the council secretariats in the state on Monday can lead to mayhem and that is not what we need at the moment.

“Both the state government and the PDP must be cautioned against causing crisis in the state due to wrong interpretation of the court ruling.”
