We’re fast approaching summer’s peak, and for all you indoor people looking to avoid the rising temperatures, the streaming services are here for you. Ever since its founding in 2020, has quickly established itself as one of the streamers offering something for virtually everyone, at a lower cost than Prime Video or Apple TV+. So, whether you love gangster films, mockumentaries, or historical romances, here are the best films coming to Peacock in July 2025.

The great Martin Scorsese has made countless stone-cold classics, and yet maybe none of them are as compulsively watchable as . Inspired by a true story, the film follows three decades in the life of Mafia member Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), specifically his relationship with his wife, Karen (Lorraine Bracco), and his partners, Jimmy Conway (Robert De Niro) and Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci).

With Goodfellas, Scorsese emphasizes character over plot; it’s maybe the most electrically paced film to run over two hours, and there’s fun in simply watching the leads interact in scenes akin to a buddy comedy. It’s maybe the most wildly entertaining gangster film to exist, as Scorsese is primarily interested in what attracts people to lawlessness while also trusting the viewers to understand how amoral they are without spelling it out. In the gangster pantheon, it’s arguably even better than The Godfather, and .

It remains to be seen how the long-awaited sequel to This Is Spinal Tap will shape up, but almost a decade ago, Lonely Island gave us maybe the closest thing to a contemporary update on that comedy classic. is a laugh-out-loud funny mockumentary that follows pop superstar “Conner4Real” (Andy Samberg) as he struggles to remain relevant after his newest album receives scathing reviews from critics.

50 Best New Movies on Streaming to Watch Right Now

From Netflix to Max, here are 50 unique and new movies to watch on streaming right now on every major platform.

As is expected from The Lonely Island, there are celebrity cameos galore (Emma Stone, Ringo Starr, and Justin Timberlake, for starters), and the juvenile humor has an inspired lunacy to it. Much like with Spinal Tap, the songs hit the perfect parody balance: if you don’t listen to the lyrics, they could pass as the real thing, and if you do listen to the lyrics, they’re utterly hysterical (the pro-gay rights number in particular brings the house down). It’s both a takedown and a love letter to pop music, thus feeling like a destined cult classic, and .

To this day, there may be no film that defines historical romance quite as potently as . Set against the backdrop of the titular ship’s voyage and subsequent sinking in 1912, the film primarily focuses on Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet), two passengers who fall in love despite being in different social classes. Their star-crossed relationship gets put to the test both when Rose’s rich fiancé (Billy Zane) learns about her fling and when the ship meets its inevitable fate.

As to be expected from a James Cameron film, Titanic is flawless on a technical front, and the attention to detail shown both in recreating the ship and its eventual sinking, almost beat for beat, remains astonishing to this day. While it’s easy to dismiss the romance as kitschy melodrama, it’s nothing if not involving, and even over two decades later, it’s no wonder that it won an entire generation of moviegoers over to DiCaprio and Winslet. Indeed, it stood tall as the highest-grossing film of all time until Cameron’s next film. Its 11 Oscar wins still hold the (tied) record, and .

Perhaps the most underrated thriller of the year so far, is finally arriving on streaming services next month. Directed by Christopher Landon, known for Happy Death Day fame, the film centers on a widowed mother (Meghann Fahy of The White Lotus), who goes on a date for the first time in years, during which she starts receiving a barrage of threatening text messages. Quickly, she starts to wonder if her date is the responsible party.

As we make our way through the seasons, these are some of the best movies currently playing in theaters.

Despite being best known as a horror filmmaker, Landon displays a surprising range with Drop, expertly channeling classic Hitchcockian thrillers that ratchet up the tension constantly while keeping us consistently engaged. Yet it’s a surprisingly timely film, potently tapping into the depressingly common emotional experiences heterosexual women have experienced while being around emotionally volatile men, and Fahy gives the story a human grounding. .

Fans of In the Bedroom and Little Children had to wait almost two decades for director Todd Field’s next film, and the wait was nothing if not worth it. In a career seemingly full of amazing performances, surely stands near the top of the list for Cate Blanchett; her turn as world-famous conductor Lydia Tár, who’s preparing to record a symphony, is utterly magnetic. Yet at the height of her career, there’s nowhere to go but down, as she’s accused of misconduct and begins facing the consequences of past sordid behavior.

In a post-#MeToo world, Tár is nothing if not timely; yet, what’s most refreshing about it is how Todd Field refuses to turn it into a message movie. In telling the story almost entirely from his titular character’s perspective, he gives the picture a clinical, almost Kubrickian quality in illustrating her inevitable downfall, but he never preaches to the viewer. Separating the art from the artist remains a hotly debated topic, and Field thankfully trusts the viewer to decide where they land on that. .
