Spurs' route to the final saw them beat AZ Alkmaar, Eintracht Frankfurt and then Bodø/Glimt in the semi-final. United, on the other hand, had to go through Real Sociedad, Olympique Lyonnais and Athletic Bilbao, scoring a whopping 19 goals in just the knockout phase.
