ElecLink Suspends Activity for Inspection
Getlink SE announced the suspension of ElecLink operations for two weeks, starting May 19, 2025, due to a slight cable misalignment detected outside the tunnel in the United Kingdom. This suspension is a precautionary measure to allow for necessary inspections and tests. The company anticipates resuming services on June 2, 2025.
The estimated commercial impact of this two-week suspension is approximately 20 million euros. ElecLink, installed within the Channel Tunnel, plays a vital role in balancing energy needs between France and the United Kingdom.
Getlink SE, through its subsidiary Eurotunnel, holds the concession for the Channel Tunnel infrastructure until 2086. Eurotunnel operates truck and passenger shuttles between Folkestone (UK) and Calais (France). Since 1994, the Channel Tunnel has facilitated travel for nearly 518 million people and over 106 million vehicles and carries a quarter of trade between the Continent and the United Kingdom.
Getlink is committed to sustainable mobility services, including rail freight through its subsidiary Europorte. The company focuses on low-carbon services and prioritizes the well-being of people, nature, and territories.
