Mutwe has been on remand since May 5th, when he was released from captivity, where he was alleged tortured by military operatives

At the time of his release, he was unable to walk on his own and had to be helped by police officers into the courtroom.

Here he was charged with Robbery and Aggravated Robbery along with other NUP members

The charges brought against Mutwe reportedly stem from a crime committed in Manja in Lwengo district.

The same charges were earlier brought against other NUP activists, Acleo Kivumbi, Wasabi and Gafaffi.
