ECG Counters Rehoboth's Denial, Cites Proof of Illegal Power Connections | News Ghana
In a July 2 statement, ECG detailed that 83 apartments were directly hooked to the grid without meters, incurring penalties of GH¢19,247.40 per unit.
Rehoboth had claimed on June 23 that it paid for meters in 2023 but faced installation delays due to national shortages. ECG refuted this, noting: “Payment for 20 meters was only made on June 17, 2025—days after disconnection.” The utility company highlighted Rehoboth management’s signed acknowledgment of violations during a June 17 meeting at ECG’s Accra East office.
A separate block factory on the estate was also disconnected for illegal usage, with that case handled independently. ECG’s Accra East Communications Officer, Mary Eshun-Oppong, urged public collaboration against power theft, emphasizing transparency in resolving the dispute.
