The hawker passed away on Monday afternoon, June 30, just a day after he was declared brain dead.
The family of the deceased announced that Kariuki will be buried on Friday, July 11, at their Kangema homestead in Murang'a.
They described him as a man who had an ambition of improving the financial status of his family, but did not live long enough to achieve that dream.
Following this, they pleaded with the Kenya Kwanza government to ensure that justice is served and those behind Kariuki's death are brought to book.
Wails and screams filled the homestead as family members gathered to remember the life of their beloved.
Kariuki's mother, Susan Njeri, could not hold back her emotions as she screamed in pain, mourning the death of her son.
"He used to tell me that he wanted to take care of his family. He even wanted to build them a home so they could live properly. So I was very surprised when I heard he was no more. He never got to fulfil his dreams," family member Beatrice Wairimu said.
Abel Kinyanjui, Kariuki's grandfather, paid an emotional tribute to him, stating that he used to bring money to his mother every time he visited.
He expressed his disappointment that the police killed the young man, yet he was not doing anything wrong.
"He was the one who bought all these goods here. Police men who killed this boy and he had no weapon or anything...," Abel said.
