Founder of the Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, has cautioned Nigerians against allowing those he called “expired politicians” to stage a comeback, warning that such a return would plunge the country into another era of failure.

Alawuje, in a statement on Friday, accused some politicians of desperately trying to reclaim power by forging questionable alliances, even involving traditional rulers, with the sole aim of unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

According to him: “It is no longer business as usual,” he declared. “The time has come for us to rise and reject any attempt by these time wasters and resource drainers to force themselves back into relevance. If allowed, they will drag our nation millions of miles backward.”

The DOJ founder lamented that some of these political actors, whom he described as relics of Nigeria’s troubled past, had become so irrelevant that many citizens wondered if they were still alive until their recent resurgence in the public space.

He said their sudden political revival showed “no shame,” adding: “Imagine the audacity of those who failed Nigeria now attempting to present themselves as the nation’s saviors. Have they no dignity left to stop embarrassing their family names further?”

Taking a swipe at new coalitions forming across the country, Alawuje argued that their mission was not to advance Nigeria’s progress, but merely to satisfy personal egos and prove their continued relevance. “They bring no new ideas, no integrity, and certainly no credibility,” he said.

Drawing a contrast, he praised the emergence of Presidents Yar’Adua, Buhari, and Tinubu, attributing their rise to proven integrity and past records of performance. According to him, “Even if they haven’t gotten everything right, they are far better than those who once crippled our progress.”

Alawuje further charged youths and other progressive-minded citizens not to be deceived by recycled political figures. “Being a former minister or governor does not automatically make one more capable than the sitting president. What we need now are solutions, not opportunists,” he stressed.

He vowed that the DOJ would not relent in its campaign to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy and development. “We will continue to speak the truth, stand for progress, and defend our nation against political scavengers,” he said.

“The DOJ remains firm in our resolve. Nigeria belongs to all of us. We must protect her future from those who seek to take us back to the dark days,” he concluded.
