Dominic Akuboh to keynote 10th African Icon Awards anniversary

The African Icon Awards has announced Engr. Dr. Dominic Onuh Akuboh, FNSE, as the keynote speaker for its highly anticipated 10th anniversary celebration, scheduled to be held on July 26th, 2025, at the prestigious Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria.

This year’s milestone edition promises to be a convergence of Africa’s most accomplished minds, with a focus on recognising individuals who have made remarkable contributions in various sectors across the continent.

Speaking on the choice of Akuboh, the Director of Projects, Ambassador Abraham Lawal, described him as a distinguished figure in civil engineering, taxation, and academia. According to Lawal, Akuboh stands out among his contemporaries for his multidimensional expertise and for using his knowledge to positively impact society.

“Engr. Dr. Dominic Onuh Akuboh is not only a renowned civil engineer and tax professional but also a respected lecturer whose influence cuts across professional and humanitarian spheres. His keynote address will centre on the theme: ‘The True African Leaders: The Power of African Youth in Leadership’, a timely and relevant discourse for the continent’s development,” Lawal stated.

The 10th anniversary of the African Icon Awards will not only honour excellence but also celebrate a decade of spotlighting Africans who have made a difference in their respective fields. The event will feature a grand dinner night, networking opportunities, and a host of special activities to mark the historic occasion.

This year’s award categories reflect the depth and diversity of African excellence, and include: Icon Man Of The Year, Young Entrepreneurial Icon of the Year, Business Personality of the Year, Award of Excellence in Business, Leadership and Women Development, Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year, Entertainment Humanitarian of the Year, Award of Excellence in Leadership and Humanitarian Service, Global Youth Ambassador of the Year, Most Supportive Philanthropist of the Year, Award of Excellence in Youth Initiative among others.
