The series will premiere on June 24, 2025, with its first three episodes. Created by Chinaka Hodge, the show is loosely based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It follows the events after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). It showcases MIT student Riri Williams returning to her home in Chicago, where she soon becomes entangled with Parker Robbins, also known as The Hood. She delves deep into secrets that pit technology against magic. Thus begins an adventure filled with danger, magic, and emotion.

The show features a star cast including Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White in key roles. The additional cast includes Jim Rash, Sonia Denis, Shakira Barrera, Zoe Terakes, Shea Couleé, Eric André, and Harper Anthony, among others.

Dominique Thorne expressed excitement for her role in her interview with Den of Geek. She stated, “Riri’s going back to the heart of it all. She’s going back home. She’s returned to Chicago, and our girl has a lot to reflect on. The events of Wakanda shook her up and expanded her worldview. Now she has to figure out what that all means, to have been at the center of something so insane.”

Speaking about the conflict between tech-savvy Riri and the magical Hood, she added, “Like any of the great franchises that have existed throughout our lifetime, stories about magic and technology give us options. They give us range that captures the gamut of human emotion and human experience, and human expression. And this is no different.”
