Taking a look at the new series , a number of descriptive words come to mind. It's another exciting Netflix anime, a video-game adaptation, an action-horror show, and a blast of metal music-laced chaos. Anyone who's familiar with the five video games and has perhaps played at least one of Capcom's five titles will certainly tune in to see what the new series from showrunner (Dredd producer) is all about. MovieWeb was able to catch up with Shankar as the series dropped on Netflix to learn what he's most excited for fans to experience.

"There's so much. I mean, it's a love letter to Capcom, it's a love letter to Hollywood blockbusters from 1999 to 2003, it's a love letter to nu-metal music, it's a love letter to long-time fans, newer fans. It's just the whole thing," Shankar told us. "It was really just a dream come true to be able to do this and execute it at the level I was able to execute it at. And I'm very grateful to Netflix because without Netflix, this doesn't happen at all. And really, I wanted to create something that would be economically unfeasible in live-action."

Also joining our interview with Shankar were the series' two lead voice actors, ("Dante") and ("Lady") — the latter being a familiar face in scary movies (Rob Zombie's Halloween remakes). In fact, it's that very experience that led Taylor-Compton to land the voice-acting gig of a major character in the recent Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game.

"Having the horror title that I do have — obviously Texas Chain Saw Massacre — I mean, I know all those guys. Like, we see each other at [conventions] all the time. "So I know all of those dudes," Taylor-Compton said, adding:

"But I've known about Devil May Cry from Adi. We did a movie together a long, long time ago, and he brought the show up as a fan. He was talking about this video game. And so that's when I heard about Devil May Cry. So I've known about it for a while. I'm not the best at video games. I try really, really hard, but I have played the games a few times."

And then, there's her Devil May Cry co-star Bosch, who actually voiced a different character in a couple of the video games before tackling the grandest of roles for this all-new series adaptation. "It was just riding a wave... I did get an outline... [Adi] didn't say that I was going to be Dante," Bosch told us in reflecting on how he was approached about his latest gig. "When I auditioned, it was for a character named 'David'... I watched it through, and then eventually he told me, he's like, 'Oh no, I wrote [Dante] for you.'"

Fans will certainly be pleased with what Bosch brings to the coveted DMC character. And as he promised MovieWeb regarding the show's end result, "it's going to be a wild ride." Devil May Cry is now streaming on Netflix. Watch it through the link below:
