The move follows the vandalism of five EACC vehicles during a raid at Governor George Natembeya's Milimani residence on Monday, May 19.
The three include Matisi ward MCA, and Deputy Speaker Obed Mwale Mahanga, Erick Wafula Mwangale of Hospital Ward, and Sikhendu Ward representative Andrew Kutitila.
The nine officials of the county government are Truphosa Amere (county secretary), Sammy Sichangi (governance chief officer), Emmanuel Wamalwa (governor's PA), Dickson Wamocho (chief of staff) and Felix Sialo (director of communications).
Others summoned include county Attorney Charles Wabwoba, Felix Musamali, Duncan Macheso, and Diana Wabwile.
The twelve are required to report to the Kiminini DCI offices on Monday, May 26, 2025, no later than 9 am.
In the summon letter signed by Kiminini Sub County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO), Brendah Omwenga, the Clerk of Trans Nzoia County Assembly is required to inform and facilitate the three MCAs to report to DCI offices to record statements that can help in investigations.
"This office is investigating a case of obstructing persons without justification or lawful excuse contrary to section 66(1) as read with section 66(2) of the ACECA NO. 3 of 2003 and unlawful damage to public property contrary to section 48 of the ACECA NO. 3 of 2003 that was reported at Kitale police station vide OB NO. 80/19/05/2025," read part of the letter.
In a one-page letter, Omwenga states that the three MCAs, who are close allies of Governor Natembeya, are prominently mentioned in an ongoing investigation.
"The following county assembly members (Hon. Obed Mwale, Hon. Erick and Hon. Andrew Kutitila) have been adversely mentioned. Kindly inform and facilitate them to report at DCI Kiminini on Monday, May 27 at 9:00am or even if they can avail themselves today 25th day of May afternoon for statement recording that will enable us to complete our investigation," said Omwenga in her letter.
Addressing the press after the raid, Kutitila and Wafula said the operation at Natembeya’s residence was a scheme to embarrass him and undermine his growing political influence.
They pointed an accusing finger at President William Ruto and the Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen.
They pledged their support for Natembeya, who was questioned at the EACC Integrity Centre and later arraigned in court, where he pleaded not guilty to multiple corruption charges.
Mahanga was not physically present at the residence of Natembeya during the raid.
During Monday morning’s raid, five high-end vehicles were deflated and later destroyed, leaving EACC detectives stranded.
Since then, several Trans Nzoia youths seen in video clips vandalising the vehicles were arrested.
Among those detained are three Trans Nzoia County enforcement officers, arrested on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at noon. Some youths wanted by the DCI are also reported to have fled to Uganda via the Suam border.
