Dame must not see GLC petition as an 'execution' of sins of NPP; he should take responsibility - Frankin Cudjoe

A Ghanaian citizen, Daniel Kwame Ofosu-Appiah, has formally petitioned the General Legal Council (GLC), accusing Godfred Yeboah Dame, of professional misconduct in relation to the criminal trial of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and others in the Ambulance trial.

Filed under Section 18 of the Legal Profession Act, 1960 (Act 32), the complaint cites an audio recording—admitted into evidence in court—as proof that Mr. Dame allegedly attempted to influence the testimony of Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the case.

The audio, supported by WhatsApp messages between the two, forms part of a series of evidence Mr. Ofosu-Appiah believes warrants disciplinary action.

Speaking on TV3’s KeyPoints, May 24, 2025, Mr. Cudjoe said Godfred Dame should face the matter against him squarely.

Franklin Cudjoe noted that Dame must answer for his conduct and take responsibility for his actions.

“Godfred Dame must understand that this instance he is alone and that the sins of the general NPP government which obviously led us into the others will not be art of this legitimate action.

“He should not see that as part of the persecution of the sins of the recent government that left power. He has to answer for his own sins.

“He should understand that this is personal responsibility for his actions that he took. Nobody is persecuting him,” he stated.

Mr. Ofosu-Appiah is requesting that the GLC’s Disciplinary Committee consider sanctions ranging from suspension to removal from the roll of lawyers, stating that the matter is of urgent public interest and vital to upholding trust in Ghana’s justice system.
