A late night edition of the Daily Dirt – just trying to catch up on a few things…
The search at IU Indy has wrapped, and an announcement is expected in the next 24-48 hours. The names that I have heard here include D2 West Liberty Head Coach Ben Howlett (217-37 – .854 in 8 seasons at WL), Florida Atlantic assistant Jordan Fee (went 32-3 in one season as the head coach at D2 Gannon), Tampa head coach Linc Darner (former head coach at Horizon League foe Green Bay), one more current D2 head coach, and one more D1 assistant. Parker has been running this search, with Grant Higgison serving as the lead.
Multiple sources have NYU hiring Ithaca’s Waleed Farid as their next head basketball coach replacing Dave Klatsky (Florida) – Twitter friend Curry Hicks Sage was the first to confirm. Farid has spent the past four seasons at Ithaca, where he went 66-40 (.623). He also spent five seasons as the head coach at Hartwick (49-52), and seven years as an assistant at his alma mater Stevens Institute of Technology.
Staying in the UAA…Carnegie Melon is close to being done as well. I can confirm that their top choice (a current D3 head coach) has decided to stay his current spot. It sounds like Yale associate head coach Justin Simon is still in the mix.
