Couple arrested in Lagos for abusing teenage boy
A couple, Mr Abanishe Taofeek and Mrs Abanishe Temitope, have been arrested by the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) for allegedly abusing their 15-year-old son for over 18 months.
It was learnt that concerned neighbours at Oreagba Street, Olowu CDA in the Grammar School area of Ikorodu, alerted authorities after observing repeated physical assault on the boy. Officers of the LNSA attached to the Grammar School beat responded and apprehended the suspects.
General Manager of the agency, Prince Ifalade Oyekan, in a statement on Saturday, said the case had been transferred to the Igbogbo Divisional Headquarters for further investigation. He added that the child, who bore several signs of physical abuse, had been taken to the Ita-Elewa Primary Health Centre for medical attention.
The couple, when confronted, reportedly confessed and pleaded for leniency.
Oyekan praised the vigilance of community members, particularly CDA chairmen who accompanied the boy to the Ikorodu Command Base, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling child abuse across the state.
