A financial expert and governance consultant, Dr. Kofi David Wuaku, has declared his intention to represent the Volta Region on the Council of State, vowing to champion transparent leadership and drive sustainable development for the region.
Addressing the audience in Ho, he laid out an ambitious vision focused on job creation, youth empowerment, and grassroots engagement.
With over two decades of experience in central banking and ten years as a consultant across various industries, Dr. Wuaku brings a wealth of expertise in finance, investment, and governance.
He believes that the Volta region holds immense potential for economic growth, and he aims to unlock these opportunities by attracting investors and fostering an enabling environment for sustainable development.
“We have the resources, the talent, and the drive. What we need is the right leadership to bring these elements together and create economic opportunities for all,” Dr. Wuaku stated.
His economic agenda focuses on:
Agro-Processing & Industrialization: Establishing agro-processing factories to create thousands of jobs for farmers and agricultural workers.
Tourism Development: Leveraging the region’s rich cultural heritage and scenic landscapes to boost local businesses and employment.
Renewable Energy & ICT Investment: Positioning the Volta Region as a hub for green energy solutions and digital transformation.
Empowering the Next Generation
Recognizing that the youth are the backbone of the region’s future, Dr. Wuaku has outlined bold initiatives to equip them with the skills and opportunities needed for success.
Volta Region Scholarship Scheme: A funding program for young people to pursue education in IT, engineering, and high-demand fields.
Expansion of TVET Institutions: Advocating for the establishment of more Technical and Vocational Training Institutes (TVETs) to provide practical skills training.
Entrepreneurship Support: Providing mentorship, funding, and business development support to young entrepreneurs.
“We cannot build a prosperous Volta Region without investing in our young people. Education, skills training, and access to capital must be our priorities,” he emphasised.
Dr. Wuaku underscored the importance of inclusive governance, pledging to work closely with assembly members, traditional leaders, and development partners to push for regional progress.
Regular Town Hall Meetings: Ensuring transparency and accountability in decision-making.
Collaborations with Traditional Leaders: Strengthening partnerships to align development efforts with community needs.
Policy Advocacy: Championing policies that directly benefit the people rather than serve political interests.
“True leadership is about listening to the people and ensuring that their needs drive decision-making. That is the kind of leadership I am committed to bringing to the Council of State,” he assured.
Dr. Wuaku urged the people of the Volta Region to rally behind his vision for progress, emphasizing that their support would be instrumental in shaping a prosperous future.
“I stand for progress, I stand for development, and I stand for the empowerment of our youth and communities. With your support, I will work tirelessly to ensure a brighter and more prosperous future for our beloved region,” he concluded.
