Corinthians set to spend in transfer window-Xinhua

RIO DE JANEIRO, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Corinthians will actively seek new signings during Brazil's upcoming winter transfer window, club president Augusto Melo said on Friday.

The Sao Paulo-based outfit has so far endured an inconsistent 2025 season, having failed to string together more than two consecutive wins across all competitions since March.

"I'm doing everything I can to improve Corinthians," Melo told reporters. "We have a competitive team, but I will spare no effort in this window. Whatever the technical committee needs, we will pursue."

Corinthians, one of Brazil's most successful and popular clubs, is currently 10th in the country's 20-team top-flight standings with just three wins from eight games.

Meanwhile, the seven-time Brazilian Serie A champion is second in the Copa Sudamericana's Group C and needs to win its last group stage match against Huracan in Buenos Aires on May 27 to be assured of a berth in the knockout phase.

"We are looking for players that fit our mould," Melo said. "Our aim is not to make mistakes when hiring. We know the pull that Corinthians has because when we talk to players, they all want to come here."

Brazil's winter transfer window is scheduled to run from July 10 to September 2.
