Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a 22-year-old man for sodomising four male children between the ages of 8 and 9.

The Command spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, identified the suspect as Habubakar Umar, a resident of Rumde Baru, a community in Yola North Local Government Area of the state.

Nguroje revealed that Umar was a commercial tricyclist hired by the parents of his victims to convey them to school.

“The arrest followed a complaint from the victim’s parent who reported that the suspect was hired to be conveying their children to school. However, took advantage of that and, on several occasions, lured them into an unnatural offence,” Nguroje noted.

Umar confessed to committing the crime but blamed the devil for it.

The state’s Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris, described the incident as disturbing and condemned it.

He also directed that the case be diligently investigated and charged to court without delay.

Nguroje reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting the rights of children in the state.

He also urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and report people of suspicious character to the nearest police stations.
