Published 10 hours ago2 minute read

You can take the chef out of the kitchen... but the tips she's learnt along the way will stay with her!

And that was definitely the case for Clodagh McKenna as she shared her top tip for having a comfortable day at the races while at Royal Ascot.

Chatting with Ger Treacy on the Six O'Clock Show, Clodagh looked fabulous in her red drop waist midi dress from quirky brand Wolf & Badger.

Clodagh accesorised with a classy black hat from acclaimed milliner Jane Taylor, a black crocodile skin style bag from Aspinal of London, and a pair of Daniel footwear heels.

Sharing her top race day tip, Clodagh told Ger racegoers should: '[Wear] small heels, comfortable shoes, [and] bring little plasters with you for your feet in case you get a sore.'

As for her best advice though, Clodagh continued: 'My biggest tip is lots of talcum powder in your shoes. Put it in about an hour before you're going to wear them and shake it out like you would if you’re baking and putting flour on a tray and getting rid of the excess... it helps keep your feet cool.'

Ger loved the kitchen-inspired tip, laughing as she said 'spot the chef!

Chatting more about the dress code at Ascot, which has seen several high-profile guests as well as many royals including Zara Tindall already this week, Clodagh said she 'loves' it.

'I absolutely love it [the dress code]. I love in the weeks leading up to it, looking on Instagram and checking out the dresses as they all start building up, all the milliners and fashion brands,' Clodagh said.

Clodagh also had high praise for Ger's look of the day, declaring that it was 'one of my favourite outfits at Ascot so far.'

Ger's dress featured enormous ruffled butterfly-style shoulders that crossed down around the waist and from there flowed into a long pencil skirt that grazed her ankles.

It's not clear where Ger snapped up her winning look from, but rental site Completelook.ie appears to have a version of the dress on offer for €95 for four days.
