Climate expert cautions public against use of tainted glasses in residential buildings
Richard Adu-Poku, Climate Change expert
Richard Adu-Poku, a climate change expert, has cautioned the public against the use of tinted glass in residential buildings.
He explained that such glass absorbs a high amount of heat, which can worsen climatic conditions and potentially lead to serious health complications.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Adu-Poku, who is also the Executive Director of Livelihood and Environment Ghana—an environmentally focused non-governmental organisation—said that extreme heat could contribute to infertility in men. He added that many men living in excessively hot environments are less likely to impregnate their wives or have children.
“Semen requires specific temperature conditions to function effectively. If we are unable to manage the heat in our homes, it becomes difficult to impregnate our wives or partners,” he stated.
Mr. Adu-Poku urged the public to support the government’s climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts, noting that climate-related droughts significantly impact both food security and public health.
