Chef Britt Rescigno reveals the secret to her TOC success, interview

Published 1 day ago3 minute read

After doing well on Guy’s Grocery Games, Chef Britt Rescigno became the Cinderella story on Tournament of Champions. Over several seasons, the talented chef has mastered the Randomizer, impressed the culinary judges, and made it to the TOC final four. During a conversation with the chef, she revealed the secret to her successful approach.

Food television has become an important element in a chef’s culinary career. From James Beard Award winning chefs to highly successful restaurateurs, chefs understand that being seen on a screen in a culinary competition is vital to their career. When people see chefs and their food, they are hungry to experience that deliciousness for themselves.

Chef Britt Rescigno has utilized her success on Food Network into a bustling culinary career. From brand partnerships to her new restaurant, Fiamma,  Chef Britt’s star is rising.

During a conversation with the chef, she reflected on her recent Tournament of Champions run and her gratitude to the Food Network. Specifically, she said, “I’m going to cross my fingers that Food Network keeps me on competitions. I grew up playing sports and this is my new sport. I get that adrenaline rush. You can win or lose, but it is pure competition. It is nothing personal, since I’m competing against friends. I enjoy the game.”

Stepping into that food television competitive role has not always been easy. She reflected, “I started on Chopped and moved my way through Food Network. When I first started, I was nervous. I did not want to be the star, but it broke me out of my shell. It made me be a better version of myself and a better chef. People saw me differently and I wanted to be the best version of myself for them.”

That growth can be seen as people go back and watch Chef Britt on the Food Network. With each challenge, her confidence grew. In the most recent season of Tournament of Champions, she made bold choices and they paid off.

Speaking about her success on Tournament of Champions, Chef Britt said, “that show fits into my philosophy about food in general. It is simple food, but it has a lot of techniques. Each dish highlights the ingredients. In TOC, you basically have two or three ingredients that you have to showcase. I used those items to their highest potential. That idea is what is most important.”

While Chef Britt has to think on her feet during these Food Network challenges, the creativity can inspire dishes on her menu. She commented that those in the moment dishes tend to end up on a menu in some shape or form. That element is good news for Food Network fans who hunger for a taste of her food.

Will Chef Britt continue to participate in Food Network competitions? She would happily come back for a Tournament of Champions Season 7 or another show, too. The positives from all these competitions keep her coming back as long as Food Network invites her.
