Charity Polo: Clearwater, Access Bank, others win top prizes - Daily Trust

The prestigious 2025 Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield polo tourney climaxed with victories for Clearwater Polo, Access Bank, and Katsina Max Air teams that won the Access Bank Cup, Charity Shield Cup, Herbert Wigwe Memorial Cup, UNICEF Cup, and Usman Dantata Cup respectively.

Clearwater team defeated strong oppositions to win the highly revered Access bank Cup, first major title in the international polo fiesta.

“My first reaction is gratitude. to God Almighty for affording us the opportunity to participate and to be victorious, “elated Clearwater polo Chairman, General Kapeh Kazir declared moments after the final game.

Former champions Access Bank team lived up to their rating carting home the event’s biggest prizes, Charity Shield and the Herbert Wigwe Memorial Cup respectively.

Visiting Max Air team from Katsina also finished tops, defeating a crowded field to win both the UNICEF Cup and the Usman Dantata Cup.

One of the major highlights of the prestigious annual event was undoubtedly the Dawule Baba Polo Day, where the President of kaduna Polo Club, Mohammad Babangida and Murtala Laushi led their respective teams to win the inaugural event hosted in memory of the late Nigerian polo legend.

The 2025 Access Bank-UNICEF Charity Shield Polo tournament  featured over 20 teams, with players from Argentina, South Africa, and top Nigerian athletes competing in four exciting finals across low, medium, intermediate, and high-goal categories.

Access Bank Managing Director, Roosevelt Ogbonna, expressed gratitude to Kaduna State for its exceptional charity partnership with Access Bank, Fifth Chukker, and UNICEF.

He emphasized that the Charity Shield platform has significantly impacted communities in Kaduna State by providing essential social amenities.

This commitment was further enhanced with the launch of the Give Project, aimed at raising funds to support the educational needs of students at the Access Bank Fifth Chukker School project in Maraban Jos, Kaduna.
