On April 22, where Brigadier General Michael Kabango replaced Major General George Igumba as Commandant at Kimaka, with Igumba set to retire in the coming months. The CDF during that reshuffle also appointed Brigadier General Alex Opolot Olupot as the new Commandant of the National Defence College Uganda (NDC-U) in Jinja.

Olupot, previously with Joint Staff Training and Doctrine, took over from Major General Francis Okello, who will retire later this year. Okello was the founding Commandant of the college, established in 2022 for advanced military education and strategic training.

Meanwhile, in the new changes, Colonel Nelson Ahebwa has been appointed as the Deputy Joint Staff Chief Political Commissar of the UPDF. Major General Henry Masiko currently holds the position.

According to Colonel Magezi, the appointments take immediate effect.
