Published 1 week ago1 minute read

CDCR welcomed 155 new correctional officers April 11 as they graduated the Basic Correctional Officer Academy. The following Monday, the recruits started their first week as correctional officers with CDCR, reporting to institutions across California.

Family, friends, and CDCR leaders gathered at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in Galt to mark the cadets’ achievements.

“This is an experience I will never forget, and I’ve waited a long time for today,” said Damiano Lanoza, one of 155 new correctional officers sworn in after graduating. “This is probably one of the top moments in my life.”
