Captain America star Anthony Mackie throws a friendly jab at Spider-Man actor Tom Holland over Sam Wilson's MCU lead role in . Sam Wilson's MCU story began with the former pararescue airman becoming Steve Rogers' right-hand man, which soon earned him a spot in the Avengers and proved his potential as the next Captain America. After giving up and recovering the shield, Sam Wilson faces the biggest battle in his superhero career in Julius Onah's Captain America: Brave New World, where he will show the world why Steve Rogers picked him to carry the shield.

In an interview with Fandango about Captain America: Brave New World, , which started when the Spider-Man actor mocked the MCU's lack of Falcon movies. Mackie jokingly acknowledges Tom Holland was right about the fact that there are no Falcon movies and assures that they have left their differences behind. Read Mackie's comments and watch the interview below (Tom Holland comments at the 19:33 mark):

Well, Tom and I have talked in private. And you know, I went to the UK, and we had a conversation, and I had to let him know what I was thinking, and now we good, and we drunk some Bero hero, and you know, chopped it up. And I'm very excited for how he feels to be made public, 'cause he was correct. There wasn't a Falcon movie, there's a Captain America movie. It wasn't a personal comment. It was a character comment... We talked about it. We talked about it. Now we good.

, and Anthony Mackie joked that he hadn't seen Spider-Man: Homecoming at the time. This funny back-and-forth started a friendly feud between the Spider-Man and Falcon actors, which reflected their characters' dynamics in Captain America: Civil War. Years later, Anthony Mackie fired back at Tom Holland at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, jokingly saying, "Yeah, Tom Holland, f**k you!" when he arrived to promote Captain America: Brave New World.

OK Marvel, I'm Starting To See How Sam Wilson's Captain America Can Take On Red Hulk After Seeing His New Power

On the surface, Captain America vs Red Hulk feels like a very uneven match-up, but I'm starting to see how the MCU intends to even the odds.

Both Holland's Spider-Man and Mackie's Captain America are likely to play a central role in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. With no defined Avengers team and nobody officially leading the world's heroes, Mackie's Captain America will probably take it upon himself to gather Earth's Greatest Heroes. Spider-Man will probably step up to fight Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom under the new Captain America's command.
