The (CCPD) is asking for public help in locating a truck and driver responsible for downing several power lines and dragging parked cars on Sunday.

At 8:20 a.m. on May 18, CCPD responded to Tropicana Parkway and NE 5th Avenue in Cape Coral, Florida, after receiving reports of a loud collision followed by a power outage.

Police discovered significant property damage, including “six downed power poles and power lines affecting multiple blocks. Several parked vehicles were dragged across yards, and numerous fences were damaged.”

CCPD’s Traffic Homicide Investigator and Property Crimes Detectives responded to the scene.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that a large commercial semi-truck struck a utility line and continued traveling westbound on Tropicana Parkway, dragging the lines behind it. The damage extended across multiple homes and vehicles. The driver of the semi-truck fled the scene,” CCPD said.

CCPD estimates the cost of the property damage at $400,000.

The suspect vehicle is described as “an 18-wheeler semi-truck with a yellow cab and a white refrigerated (reefer) trailer.” Police noted that “a portion of the trailer’s roof was torn off and recovered on Tropicana Parkway, just west of the initial crash site.”

The truck was last seen traveling northbound on Burnt Store Road.

Anyone with information is asked to call CCPD at (239) 574-3223 and reference case number 25-009645.
