When we asked content creators from around Canada to recommend their favourite Canadian brands, Hina Low (known on Instagram as @heensie) left a comment suggesting we ask influencers to recommend size-inclusive brands as well — which is exactly what we’re doing here. We caught up with the Toronto based size-inclusivity educator as well as other local content creators from across the country—Lydia Okello (@styleisstyle), Sarah Ostiguy (@sarahostiguy), Marielle TerHart (@marielle.elizabeth), Louange Mwajuma (@louangemwajuma) and Victoria Carnevale (@vic_carnevale)—to ask them about their favourite Canadian brands with inclusive sizing.

“The global fashion industry has long been a tough space for plus-size shoppers, and Canada has been no exception. For years, options were scarce, with few brands willing to serve the full range of body diversity,” Mwajuma tells ELLE Canada over email. “Thankfully, the market has expanded, and more brands are pushing the boundaries of plus fashion in Canada.”

These are just a few of the Canadian plus size brands on their lists.

“Uniform Handmade has such beautiful staple pieces in a wide array of rich and earthy colours. They are such a favourite of my styling clients! Each piece is handmade in B.C., and they offer up to a 6X with options for customizations.”

“Noémiah creates dreamy, ethereal pieces for bridal, special occasions or to layer with an everyday look for a gorgeous pop of texture or colour. I wore their Lou Shirt Dress in a beautiful cherry red to the Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show, and it was such a conversation starter. For orders over XXL, the pieces are made to your measurements for a perfect fit. Noémiah is led by Noémie Vaillancourt, who makes her pieces in a forest studio one hour north of Montréal.”

“Hilary MacMillan is my go-to for cool, on-trend coats and elevated casual wear. Their pieces are so unique. High quality and visually interesting coats are such a neglected area of the plus size fashion space. To have this option available really fills a significant gap. They are based in Toronto, and carry up to a 4X.”

“Linen, cotton and wool pieces that are made to last—think a perfect linen pant and worn-in canvas jacket. I have worn my linen Lloyd tops too many times to count. They are a perfect beach coverup, light summer jacket, breathable fall layer [or worn] under a wool sweater in winter. If you love clothes with ease, this is a brand for you.”

“What started out as swim is now an outpost for delightfully casual wardrobe staples. Playful, fun and easy to love, Nettles Tale has something for everyone. The Good Bodies club tee is the perfect oversized tee, and my plaid Mayne skirt is deeply Cher Horowitz coded.”

“The Cool Person Quebec outpost! Starting in swim and lingerie, Em and May is for the fearless and playful. Modern separates, cheeky suits, flirty undies! and they offer free custom sizing which is so rare for Canadian brands. I have a bevy of skimpy bikinis from this brand that always get compliments—and a very vintage-inspired lace dress. Plus, they use deadstock fabrics, keeping textile waste out of the landfills.”

“I love shopping at Brunette The Label for cute closet staples of great quality, but that also feel very trendy and fun! I have a bomber jacket from them I wore ALL autumn. If you’re a fashion girlie, you’ll love this brand.”

“From bathing suits to undergarments and shapewear, a curvy girl needs it all. I love Knix because everything is both comfortable and functional, while being cute and making you feel cute. I have so many bras, shape-wear pieces and bikinis from them, and they stand the test of time!”

“I first fell in love with Street & Saddle over a pair of red silk cowboy pjs, and have kept coming back to them for Western-inspired apparel that is durable enough to ride in—so definitely durable enough for my day to day life. I love the timeless preppy nostalgia of their pieces, whether that’s a great Western shirt, a plaid mini or a tweed jacket. Their sizing also offers customization so the piece can be quite literally made to fit you.”

“Emotionally aligned with the death of hustle culture, Okay To Rest is a small brand from Vancouver Island inspired by vintage graphic designs asking us to slow down. Their website opens and closes, taking the rest periods it espouses, but it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on. They also offer blank T-shirts milled in Canada with that perfect roomy fit, with sizing up to 3X in most pieces.”

“Ofuure gives you vibrant, Afro-inspired pieces that make a statement every time you step out. Ofuure pieces will have you in your main character era, and isn’t that what we all need?”

“Ofuure and Flaws of Couture are proving that plus-size fashion isn’t just about having options, but about having luxury; both Black-owned, both serving look after look. Flaws of Couture is where high fashion meets streetwear, proving that plus-size women deserve premium, trend-forward clothing. FOC’s last drop sold out so quickly, I couldn’t even manage to snag a piece for myself, so I’m excitedly waiting for the next drop!”

“Consign Your Curves is the go-to for stylish, pre-loved plus-size fashion—think of it as treasure hunting, but for fire ‘fits. You can even find pieces from my closet there as well!”

“You can’t talk about plus-size fashion in Canada without mentioning Penn. They have been offering stylish, accessible clothing for plus-size Canadians long before the industry even considered us. Canada’s plus-size fashion scene has come a long way, and these brands are proving that we’re no longer just settling for what’s available—we’re demanding fashion that’s bold, high-quality, and made for us.”

“I love shopping at Olaeda because it’s a local, female-owned business that truly understands the importance of inclusivity. In the plus-size space, finding jewellry that fits both in style and size can be a challenge, but Olaeda breaks that barrier. Their new collection with Sarah Ostiguy is a game-changer, offering rings from sizes 4-17, and necklaces that are longer for a perfect fit. It’s refreshing to support a brand that prioritizes both quality and representation in every piece.”

“I love shopping at Sheertex because not only do they offer a full size range, but their tights are also rip-resistant, making them a total game-changer. Unlike other tights that tear after one wear, Sheertex tights are built to last, and I can reuse them for years without worrying about runs or snags. It’s such a relief to find a brand that combines durability with comfort, making them my go-to for quality tights.”
